The WCAG are an international standard of accessibility guidelines. They are created and maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the body responsible for standardizing technologies on the internet. 5 Competent market surveillance authority

For Germany:

The federal states are currently setting up a joint office to carry out the tasks of the Accessibility Improvement Act.

The Market Surveillance Body of the Federal States for the Accessibility of Products and Services (MLBF) is to commence operations as a new institution under public law in Saxony-Anhalt, in the state capital Magdeburg, on June 28, 2025. The prerequisite for this is the ratification of the state treaty on the fulfillment of tasks in accordance with the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) by all federal states. All federal states are currently creating the necessary conditions for this.
